Smells like a Christmas in the Bahamas

So this year instead of staying in Boston and bundling by the fireplace equipped with wool socks, we decided to celebrate in a little different style. We packed our duffles and suitcases and headed to the Bahamas just in time to get tanned and enjoy the festivities of Junkanoo. What ensued was pure delight and madness. I can say we are going into 2010 with tans. Take that snow.

Chester French in Vogue

Chester is featured in Vogue's January 2010 issue and I must say they undoubtedly add much needed spunk to this spread. They're rocking high-end designer clothing such as Balmain, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and boy do they look spectacular in them. These recent Harvard graduates are bound to take over the music scene, as they appear on numerous tracks with well renowed artists like Pharell, Common, Jay-Z and JD. Who Knows, Maybe they'll be the Lil Wayne of 2010. You can check out they're article in Vogue by clicking here.

Just to leave with you a little taste, here's one of their first video's: She loves Everybody

Fashion Recap: Best of 2009

In light of tough economic times, 2009 still presented many great fashion trends, so I thought I would highlight some of my favorites.

Leggings
: I'd like to start with leggings.

Leggings weren't newly introduced in 2009, but they definitely prevailed. Women went from rocking simple black leggings under tunics, to wearing colored, printed, metallic and even jean-like leggings. This was the one article of clothing that every woman possessed in their closet, but I seriously begun to wonder if some would ever go back to wearing pants!

Celebrities that embraced this trend:

With every trend comes a few fashion faux pa's, when it came to leggings, one had to be very careful how they rocked the sheer style, in order to prevent exposing more than planned. And who better to exhibit this common mistake than the one and only Paris Hilton:

Ripped stockings: Along with the legging trend, came its compliment of ripped stockings in the fall.

This sultry, raunchy trend was a perfect example of how women have the ability to turn an everyday mishap into pure fashion.

Slashed Denim: Speaking of ripped, slashed denim was definitely another big hit this year.

We were slashing denim so much this year, one could wonder if the jeans still functioned as pants.

Denim Jackets: Denim served in more ways than one this year. Inspired by the 80's, denim jackets returned in 2009 to serve as accents to any outfit.

Fall Jackets: The Glitz and the Glam
Fall jackets as a whole this year came in many varieties. Of course, the classic staple, the leather jacket prevailed among all the rest, but it faced some tough competition with the sequin and faux fur frenzy. Military style jackets also created a huge craze, especially after the death of the great Michael Jackson.

These are only a few of my favorites from the year of 2009. It has been a bumpy ride, but we were still able to see some great styles. I am jumping out of my seat, awaiting what 2010 will bring. I hope everyone had a great Christmas, and I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year, as we witness the turn of another decade.

Give Them The Boot

One of the items that have been on the up and up in my wardrobe are boots. I have found myself buying more and more boot instead of feeding my sneaker addiction. They are a crucial staple to any mans wardrobe especially for city winters. I made a list of boots that I think are crucial to create the perfect boot collection. Get that boot game up good sirs.

First appearing in the 1950s, this signature Originals style is still popular today thanks to its clean lines and distinctive crepe sole.

Married to the Mob: Holiday Lookbook 2009

In light of the holiday season, I thought I'd highlight the queens of streetwear, Married to the Mob and their Holiday 2009 Lookbook. This collection consists of spunky varsity jackets, sweaters, jeans and of course leggings, that are sure to keep warm and stylish during the Holiday vacation. If you're a last minute shopper like me, you can always cop something for a friend as a Christmas present. Regardless, a piece from this collection is a pure necessity for the winter.

Snow Storm Bliss

This past weekend the Northeast was hit by a massive snowstorm. So it only makes sense that we would venture out and create havoc on UPENN's campus. Besides my LL.Bean Duck Boots were craving to be worn. Never has being snowed in been so fun.

Young Forever Video: We are Popping Up on Forbes List

This is one of the best songs of the year hands down and has been my roommates and my theme song this past fall. Popping up on Forbes list, hopping out of Porshes. Enough said.

Band of Outsiders: Like what your dad wore but way flyer

“What Ralph Lauren does is brilliant. But it's a fantasy of being a Wasp or rich. I address these cliches. It's postmodern….”

Scott Sternber

So one of my favorite lines ever is Band of Outsiders. The founder Scott Sternberg is a former Hollywood agent that became sick of the clichés and started creating a line of classic men’s shirts and ties based on using great fabric and fits. Sternberg has steadily expanded his offerings and now produces a full men's line. In 2009 he was named menswear designer of the year by the CFDA. His line is all about taking classic clothing principles and garments and evolving them in a modern way. He also has a girl line called Boy by Band of Outsiders. You can find these fine garments on Barney's and some other stores around the US. Get into him because his stuff is genius.
